Robert Harrington is Director at SBXi, a Cambridge-based venture fund that invests exclusively in startups with at least one MIT alumnus on the founding team. SBXi typically writes $10K to $100K pre-seed checks on SAFEs and $100K to $1M checks to match qualifying lead term sheets, focusing on pre-seed and seed companies in areas such as robotics, biotech, deeptech, AI, climate and cleantech, space, SaaS and enterprise software. In this role he leads the fund’s operations and early-stage investment process, supporting founders from idea stage through growth. Harrington began his career on an interest-rate derivatives desk, later co-founded a real-estate fund, and now also serves as Director of Operations and a mentor within the MIT Sandbox Innovation Fund program, working closely with emerging MIT-affiliated startups.
