About Investor
Nikita Shamgunov is VP at Databricks, following the roughly $1 billion acquisition of Neon, the serverless Postgres database company he co-founded and led as CEO, which closed in May 2025. He previously served as a Venture Partner at Khosla Ventures (where Neon was originally incubated), investing in Cloud Infrastructure, Data Services, AI, and Enterprise technology at Seed and Series A. Before Neon, he co-founded and led SingleStore (formerly MemSQL) as CTO and then CEO, scaling it to roughly $40M in ARR, and earlier worked on data infrastructure at Facebook and as a systems software engineer at Microsoft SQL Server. He continues to make personal angel investments, typically around $50K per check, currently focused on AI-native software and coding agent companies. He holds a PhD in Computer Science, a BS in Mathematics, and an MS in Computer Science from Ural State University. He is based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
