Michael Mahan is Director at Caterpillar Ventures, focusing on construction and mining startup investments and managing fund-of-fund investments, a role he joined in 2025 or 2026. He previously spent time at Southwire Technology Ventures, and before that was Managing Director at Stanley Ventures, where he was the first team member to join when the group launched in 2016 as part of Stanley Black & Decker's Breakthrough Innovation Initiative, investing on behalf of the Tools business unit in power tools, hand tools, tool accessories, and construction technology. He was recognized in 2017 as one of Global Corporate Venturing's Top 100 Rising Stars. He serves as a Board Director for Amionx, Prieto Battery, PervasID, and Active Guardian, and as a Board Observer for DreamHammer, FORT Robotics, Bartesian, MetalMaker 3D, and ARIX Technologies. He holds a BA in Mathematical Economics from Brown University. He is based in Atlanta, Georgia.
