Michael Gilroy is Co-Founder of Marathon Management Partners, a $400M venture capital firm he co-founded in 2025 with Gokul Rajaram (DoorDash board member, former Google product leader), Alex Gorgoni (NEA), and Chase Packard (TCV), headquartered in Menlo Park with offices in Los Angeles and New York. Marathon focuses on early and growth-stage companies building in fintech and enterprise software, partnering with founders committed to defining market categories. Marathon's stated culture: "You will not hear much from us on the fund, now or ever — the founders are the only ones that should be making news." Portfolio includes Mercury and Boon (2024). Prior to Marathon, Michael was General Partner, Head of Fintech, and Co-Lead of Growth at Coatue Management, where he led the firm's fintech practice for nearly a decade, with investments including Clara, Pleo, Pinwheel, Arta Finance, Silverflow, CloudWalk, Atlas, and RevOps. He holds a degree from UC Berkeley.
