Matthew Hanson is an Operating Partner in the Portfolio Group at Bain Capital, based in Boston, and is a member of the North America Private Equity team. He is associated with investments in insurance, real estate/proptech, fintech and Web3/crypto through Bain’s flagship private equity funds, with a typical check range of $1M–$100.0M and a reported sweet spot around $10.0M. His work focuses on value-creation for portfolio companies, particularly in industrials and other PE-backed businesses, rather than on sourcing large numbers of early-stage deals. Before joining Bain Capital in 2015, he was a consultant at Bain & Company. He holds a BA in biology from Harvard College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
