Marcos Galperin is the Founder and Executive Chairman of MercadoLibre, Latin America's most valuable public company, having stepped down as CEO on January 1, 2026, after 26 years leading the company, with Ariel Szarfsztejn succeeding him as CEO. In his new role, he focuses on strategy, product evolution, culture, capital allocation, and applying AI to transform the business. He is a prolific angel investor, concentrating on a diverse range of sectors including Travel, Web3/Blockchain, Web3/Crypto, AI, Payments, Education, Food and Beverage, Marketplaces, Enterprise, and Cybersecurity across pre-seed through Series B stages, with checks between $5K and $50K, including investments in NotCo, Pachama, Ripio, and Exactly. Based in Argentina, he is a prominent figure in the Latin American technology ecosystem and one of the region's most influential entrepreneurs. He holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School and an MBA from Stanford University.
