Laurent Drion is the Founding Partner at E-Merge, a Belgian venture capital firm that invests in startups across Europe and the USA. His investment focus spans multiple sectors including telecom, e-commerce infrastructure (mainly payments), and space ventures related to the open-source CubeSat ecosystem, typically at the seed and early stage with investments ranging from $50K - $1M. Laurent is an entrepreneur turned investor who started his first company in 1990 at age 21, a Mac mail-order business that became profitable in its first year and reached $10M in yearly sales within five years. He made his first angel investment in an ISP named Skynet in the mid-90s, which became Belgium's number one ISP and was acquired by Belgacom, leading him to co-found E-Merge in 1998 to dedicate his time to seed and early stage investing.
