Karl Gemperli is the Co-Founder, Managing Director, and General Partner of Leawood Venture Capital, where he invests from pre-seed through Series C with checks typically in the $1M to $3M range across AI, cybersecurity, fintech, SaaS, and medical devices. He is the founder and former CEO of Elecsys, a pioneer of industrial wireless, IoT, and cloud data management solutions, where he quintupled revenue and grew the company's market cap by more than 3,500% before its acquisition by Lindsay Corporation in 2015. Under his leadership, Elecsys was named three times to Fortune's "Small Business 100" list of fastest-growing public companies and to Forbes' "America's Best Small Companies." He previously served as President of DCI, Inc., Vice President of Operations at Airport Systems International, and Director of Manufacturing at Goodrich Aerospace.
