Josh Palmer is a Principal focused on Physical Sciences Investments at Kairos Ventures. He leads sourcing and diligence across physical-science frontiers (materials, energy, communications, catalysis, robotics, autonomous vehicles, and medical devices) and takes operational/board roles with portfolio companies. Kairos is explicitly early-stage and often the first institutional capital, commonly spanning Seed and Series A. Kairos does not publicly standardize a single “check-size range” on its official materials, but its fund presentation shows initial checks in the low single-digit millions (and in some cases sub-$1M) with total capital deployed into individual companies reaching $20M+. Before Kairos, he was Head of R&D at a JPL spinout (Verrix), earned a Chemistry PhD from Caltech, and did postdoctoral research at Columbia.
