José Guerreiro de Sousa is a Senior Advisor and Investment Committee member at Armilar Venture Partners, a Portuguese venture capital firm with 75 investments over 25 years, focusing on Security, Food and Beverage, Cloud Infrastructure, DeepTech, Generative Tech/AI, and SaaS at seed and Series A, with checks between $100K and $5M. He holds a BSc in Computer and Systems Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico and an MBA from Universidade Católica Portuguesa. He began his career as a Researcher at INESC and an Assistant Professor at ISEG, has over 10 years of experience in the banking industry (BES Group), and 8 years as a marketing and commercial manager at Novabase SA, Portugal's largest IT solutions provider. He joined Armilar in 2004 and, after nearly two decades as a board member and observer across several portfolio companies, retired from executive roles in January 2024, transitioning to his current Senior Advisor and Investment Committee capacity. He is based in Lisbon, Portugal.
