Jorge Cortell is Founding Partner and General Partner at Unveil Pharma, a health-focused early-stage venture fund investing $500K-$20M in pharmaceuticals, medical devices, diagnostics, biotech, digital health, and health IT from pre-seed through Series A. He is currently Executive Director of TECH Tokyo (a public benefit corporation in Japan) and Visiting Professor at Institute of Science Tokyo, having recently relocated to Japan from Cambridge, MA. Previously, he was Senior Advisor for Healthcare and Life Sciences at Harvard University Innovation Laboratories (serving researchers across all 13 Harvard schools) and Senior International Innovation Fellow at the Technology and Entrepreneurship Center at Harvard (TECH) within the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences — roles which included facilitating healthcare startup workshops as recently as June 2025. He is also an active investor and former Venture Partner at NLC (Europe's most active early-stage healthcare venture builder, 100+ ventures, 7 co-built by Jorge). Advisory board roles: Lysando (world leader in antimicrobial proteins), Matchgenica (advanced pharmacogenomic AI), AugMend Health (VR for mental health), CrisisOpsAI. He has lectured at the University of Tokyo, Harvard Medical School Executive Education, and delivered talks globally on healthcare innovation and entrepreneurship. A serial entrepreneur, Jorge has founded 7 bootstrapped profitable startups (6 exits including a paper unicorn, 1 shutdown) across 4 countries and 5 industries — spanning AI, precision medicine, clinical genomics, medical imaging, digital pathology, and AR, most notably Kanteron Systems (used in hospitals across 15 countries). He also serves as a Lecturer at University of Tokyo. He holds an Undergraduate Diploma in Computing from the University of Oxford.
