About Investor

John Lyman is Managing Partner at Telescope, a Washington, D.C.-based venture firm, focused on venture investing in early-stage emerging technology companies, a role he took on in May 2025; Telescope's portfolio developed with him includes Reticular, Sunset, Revise Robotics, and CopyCat. He also serves as Managing Partner at Outcurve. Previously, he spent seven years as a Partner at GV (Google Ventures), leading investments in companies including StockX, Toast, Podium, Tend, Gametime, Andela, and Flock Freight. Prior to GV, he spent nearly a decade at Google managing global partnerships with startup accelerators like Y Combinator and Techstars, and helped launch Google.org. Earlier, he focused on progressive public policy, helping launch the Clinton Global Initiative and working at the Center for American Progress. He holds an MPP from UC Berkeley and a BA from Georgetown, and is currently a fellow at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR).
