Johann Nordhus Westarp is Managing Director at Lucid Capital, an early-stage venture fund he founded in Berlin in 2024 with Srećko Džeko (entities: Lucid Capital Management GmbH and Lucid GP GmbH). He previously was Founding Partner and Managing Director at Flash Ventures, a startup incubator launched in 2020 by Rocket Internet founder Oliver Samwer, which was completely shut down in 2024 as Samwer exited startup investing — at which point Johann departed to launch Lucid Capital. At Flash Ventures, he led pre-seed and seed investments in companies including responsibly, Mana, Fuzey, and Razor Group. Earlier career: Entrepreneur in Residence at Rocket Internet SE, Co-Founder at Optimo.AI, and Investment Analyst (Mobility) at Next47 (Siemens-backed VC). He studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Munich and also attended Stanford University. Johann remains active in the Berlin startup ecosystem, appearing at events like Startupland 2026 (deutsche-startups.de) and engaging with emerging consumer brands (HAUS, Trybe).
