Joe Schmidt is a Partner at Andreessen Horowitz, focusing on investments in Insurance and FinTech companies at pre-seed, seed, and Series A stages. His investment range typically spans from $500K to $40M. Schmidt joined a16z from Ethos, a life insurance company, where he was VP of Business Development and started and scaled the agent business to millions in monthly revenue while leading sales and managing carrier and reinsurance partnerships. Prior to Ethos, he was an investor at Accel and worked for the Notre Dame Investment Office. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame where he was a Buser Fellow in the Investment Office as well as captain and most valuable player of the football team.
