Jill Carlson (also known as Jill Carlson Gunter) is Chief Strategy Officer at Espresso Systems, a scaling and privacy infrastructure provider for Web3 applications. She previously was a Principal and Venture Partner at Slow Ventures, managing the blockchain portion of the firm's $220 million fund, with investments including Chia Network, Iron Fish, and CommonStock, focusing on Web3/Blockchain, Web3/Crypto, and Enterprise at pre-seed through Series A. A former Goldman Sachs credit trader, she wrote one of the first academic papers on Bitcoin while at Oxford, and previously led strategy at enterprise blockchain startup Chain (acquired by Interstellar/Stellar). She is Co-Founder of the Open Money Initiative, a non-profit studying how people in the developing world use cryptocurrency and fiat money, and advises Algorand, O(1) Labs, and Risk Labs. She holds an MSc from Oxford University and an AB from Harvard University in Classics.
