Jared Hecht is a Venture Partner at Union Square Ventures, a role he took on in January 2024, leading new investments and supporting portfolio founders in New York City. He previously spent over a decade (2012-2023) building companies and angel investing at Magellan, backing companies including WISE, Sweetgreen, and Truebill, and was Co-Founder and CEO of Fundera from 2014 to 2022, which surpassed $100 million in annual revenue before being acquired by NerdWallet in 2020. Earlier, he co-founded GroupMe, a mobile messaging app with over 100 million users, acquired by Skype/Microsoft in 2011, and was an early business development employee at Tumblr. Across his career, he has angel invested in over 80 companies and venture funds. He holds a BA in Political Science from Columbia University.
