Daniel Gwak is Chief Investment Officer at In-Q-Tel, the strategic investment firm of the CIA and U.S. Intelligence Community, overseeing the investment team and strategy to scale technologies critical to maintaining U.S. security and technology dominance — a role marking his return to the organization where his investing career began. He also serves as an advisor to Point72 Ventures, having previously been Managing Partner of Point72 Private Investments, where he led a 50-person team investing more than $1 billion across roughly 130 companies in deep tech, fintech, enterprise, and defense tech. Before his first stint at In-Q-Tel, he was an investment banking analyst at Credit Suisse and a private equity associate at The Carlyle Group. He served as a fireteam leader in the United States Marine Corps, earning the Combat Action Ribbon and Purple Heart for actions in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
