Chip Davis is Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Houston Ventures (houven.com) in Houston, Texas, a venture capital firm specializing in enterprise software for the Energy industry. Chip launched Houston Ventures' predecessor funds SMH PEG I (2004) and SMH PEG II (2006), and has led the firm's dedicated Energy vertical strategy for over 20 years. Houston Ventures invests in early to growth-stage companies applying technology to the Energy sector, with notable portfolio exits including sales to IBM, AT&T, Siemens, and IHS. Portfolio companies include Geoforce, LiquidFrameworks, Zilliant, RigNet, Tracts.co, SecurityGate, and Kahuna Workforce Solutions. He also serves as a Partner at MOIC Partners, a Houston-based enterprise software go-to-market advisory firm. He holds a BA from Washington and Lee University (1983–1987).
