Charles Seely is an independent angel investor, operator and advisor based in London, focused on AI, quantum and frontier tech. He has backed 60+ companies over 14+ years, with portfolio teams now valued at $40B+ combined, and is often the first cheque in. Most recently he was a General Partner at Hoxton Ventures (2021 to 2025), where he led CuspAI's $30M seed as the company's first investor and served on its board from inception until Series A, alongside investments in PACT and QuantrolOx. Before that he was an investor and Senior Advisor at Cambridge Quantum, which merged with Honeywell Quantum Solutions to form Quantinuum, now the world's largest standalone quantum computing company, listed on Nasdaq (QNT). He was also a Venture Partner at Real Ventures and Head of US Investments for SGH Capital, where he led 50+ early-stage US deals including Kalshi (pre-seed, now valued at $22B), Maven Clinic and Zipline, and led SGH's investment into the SPV backing Honey's Series A, which later exited to PayPal for $4B. Born in the UK, he spent 20 years in the US including a decade in San Francisco, founded two companies including Pensar, whose customers included NASA, and co-founded the UK Government's Afterburner VC programme.
