About Investor

Ben Werdmuller is an investor and technologist who has served as Director of Investments at Matter Ventures, where he backed early-stage media startups. His investing focus has been on seed-stage companies in media, content, analytics, social networks, AR/VR, impact and consumer internet, typically with 50K tickets. At Matter he sourced and invested in mission-driven media startups and taught venture design thinking as part of the accelerator program. He previously co-founded Elgg, an early social platform used by organisations such as Harvard and the World Bank, and later held senior technology leadership roles including Senior Director of Technology at ProPublica and CTO of The 19th.
