About Investor

Angus Paterson is a Venture Partner at Rasmal Ventures, Qatar's first independent VC fund manager, launched in 2023 to invest across the Middle East and North Africa in sectors including climate tech, fintech, B2B SaaS, and AI. He co-founded the firm alongside fellow Iris Capital alum Alexander Wiedmer. Previously, he spent over a decade as a Partner at Iris Capital, managing STC Ventures, a GCC fund that was the first institutional investor in Careem, generating a 100x return upon Careem's exit to Uber; he also backed Moda Nisa and Yallacompare. Before venture capital, he led initiatives at twofour54, held roles at Ingenious Media and Genesis Investments in the UK, and began his career as a Chartered Accountant at Arthur Andersen. He holds a degree in Oriental Studies and Modern Languages from Cambridge University.
