About Investor
Angela Smith is COO of the Nucleus Institute, Utah's hub for innovation, and Managing Director of the Nucleus Fund (also known as the Utah Innovation Fund), a $40 million early-stage venture fund created by the state of Utah. She previously invested throughout Utah and across the country as an Investor at Origin Ventures, where she was the firm's first Utah hire, focusing on Human Capital/HRTech, Education, Marketplaces, Enterprise, Consumer Internet, Future of Work, Gig Economy, Enterprise Applications, SaaS, and FinTech at seed and Series A. Earlier in her career, she spent six years as a social studies teacher in Houston and East San Jose before pursuing venture capital, including internships at Sorenson Impact and Pelion Venture Partners and serving as Managing Director of Deals at Cougar Capital, BYU's student-run venture fund. She holds an MBA from Brigham Young University and is actively involved in supporting female and diverse founders and organizing Utah Tech Week. She is based in Lehi, Utah.
