About Investor

Alex Smout is an Investment Director at Maersk Growth, leading its third fund focused on energy transition and decarbonizing global supply chains, after previously serving as a Principal at InMotion Ventures. He primarily backs Series A and B startups in supply chain and logistics, shipping and mobility, and climate-related technologies, typically writing cheques of around $5.0M from the Maersk balance sheet. His work centers on technologies such as alternative fuels, carbon capture, electrification, and software that helps decarbonize transport and logistics. Earlier in his career, he worked in corporate venturing at Digital Science and then spent several years at Jaguar Land Rover’s InMotion Ventures, investing in mobility and transportation tech. He holds an MA (Hons) in Engineering and has been an active speaker on mobility and venture topics at European tech conferences.
