About Investor

Alex Marley is an Investor at Upfront Ventures (Los Angeles), which he joined in 2025 after investing at Lux Capital and completing the Schwarzman Scholars program in Asia. Before Lux Capital, he was the first controls engineer at Cometeer, helping lead commissioning of the company's first full-scale manufacturing facility. He also previously served as Managing Partner at Dorm Room Fund (the country's largest organization for student venture capitalists), investing in AI/ML startups, and spent seven years in research labs focused on integrated photonics, neural interfacing devices, and machine vision models. He remains engaged with Dorm Room Fund, co-leading the Frontier Track for its 2026 Summer Tracks program, which spotlights students from underrepresented schools and backgrounds. He graduated magna cum laude from Northeastern University with a degree in Electrical Engineering and Economics and holds a Master of Management Science from Tsinghua University in Beijing.
