Alex Kirshenbaum is Principal at The 81 Collection, an early-stage venture firm investing in “boring” but durable industries such as industrial services, manufacturing, construction and related software. He generally invests $100K to $2.0M, with a sweet spot around $200K, into pre-seed and seed companies in sectors like retail infrastructure, construction tech, manufacturing tools and applied AI across the US Midwest and other under-served regions. Before joining (and helping to found) The 81 Collection he worked in private equity at GTCR and founded The Helix Partners, giving him a mix of control-investing and founder experience in traditional industries.
