Alex Chang is Co-Founder of Underdog Labs, a pre-seed venture fund he runs with his 25-year collaborator, David Hehman. The two first co-founded GetawayZone in 1997, merged it with a category leader, and sold the combined business to Expedia in 2000. Since then, he has built and sold multiple consumer and SaaS businesses and held operating roles at large public companies. Underdog Labs takes a boutique, accelerator-style approach, writing $100K to $500K checks into pre-product companies sourced primarily through trusted referrals, focusing on belief-driven founders across an unusually broad range of sectors including BioTech, ClimateTech, Pharmaceuticals, and Analytics, while avoiding hardware and heavily regulated businesses. He holds an MBA from UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business. He is based in San Francisco, California.
