Dr. John Hamer is Managing Partner of DCVC Bio, the life sciences investing platform within DCVC. DCVC says DCVC Bio was created to back companies at the intersection of genetics, chemistry, molecular biology, agriculture, industrial fermentation, and AI, and public investor profiles list Hamer’s investment range at $5 million to $25 million with a focus on Seed and Series A. Before co-founding DCVC Bio, he was a VP at Monsanto and Managing Director of Monsanto Growth Ventures. Earlier in his career, he was an entrepreneur at Paradigm Genetics, where he rose from visiting scientist to Chief Science Officer and later President and CEO after the company’s IPO.
